  • How can we work together?
If you have a project in mind, or just want to add me to your list of contractors, get in touch and let’s chat. On the legal side of things, I’m a registered sole trader in the UK and have permanent residency and an open work permit in Taiwan. I regularly work with clients and agencies all over the world. On the financial side, I have a multiple currency account with Revolut in the UK, and a Taiwanese account too. Just let me what currency you’d like a project quote in.
  • What services do you provide?
I specialise in branding and illustration, which actually means I do a lot of things. XXXX I also have a network of contractors and agencies if you need something else… just ask!
  • Where are you based?
I work remotely, mostly from my home in Taipei where I've been based for the past 6 years. You can sometimes find me in the UK, and occasionally, wherever in the world I feel like!
  • Why ‘East West Studio’?
The obvious answer is that whether it’s between counties or continents, I keep moving East to West. Newcastle 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 - Auckland 🇳🇿 - Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 - Ningbo 🇨🇳 - Manchester 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 - Taipei 🇹🇼 I guess this means I’m heading west again soon… East West also represents the two sides to myself and my work. I’m an introverted extrovert, and my creative practice can flip between detail oriented design and creative chaos! In Mandarin, ‘East West’ translates to 東西 (dōngxī) which also means ‘things’ or ‘stuff’. In the most basic sense, I make lots of stuff, for lots of people, in lots of places, in lots of ways, and I love it.
  • What do you charge?
Each client and project is unique, so unfortunately, I don't have a set menu of prices for you! If you have a project in mind, please contact me so we can discuss your needs and I can create bespoke quote for you.
  • What is East West Studio?
East West Studio is me, and I am it. That’s me ☝️ I run my own graphic design business. I’m a one woman studio, specialising in brand identity and illustration. I’m from Newcastle Upon Tyne, but work remotely from Taipei (most of the time) with clients and agencies all over the world.
  • How did East West Studio start?
Let’s start at the very beginning… (a very good place to start). Back in 2013 I graduated from the prestigious Glasgow School of Art with a Fine Art degree and no clue what to do with my life. So, I went to China to try teaching English for a year (a great use of my expensive degree). I realised I loved travelling, hated teaching, and needed a creative career! A year later, I was doing an intensive graphic design course in at Shillington College Manchester (which I can’t recommend enough), creating a portfolio, landing a couple of internships in branding agencies, and within a few months had become a junior designer in my first creative job at TileCreative. It was just me and my boss, which meant I learnt on the job very fast, and did everything from coming up with concepts and pitching ideas to creating massive graphics for hotels and airports. Meanwhile, my boyfriend had moved to Taiwan to continue teaching. He’s one of the rare few who actually love it! I’d been to visit a couple of times and decided it was time to take the leap, much to my family and boss’s dismay. He had two hire two people to replace this little junior… just saying. After accidentally getting myself hired one day as the creative marketing lead of a Taiwanese tech company (I met my boss in an Italian Deli and got seduced by all the delicious food), I decided I never wanted to work in-house again, and had to make it as a freelancer! And so East West Studio was born.
  • Can we chat about a project?
Of course! Please email me with a brief introduction, and we can set up a meeting to discuss how we can work together.
